| Nikki Ippolito-Laurie is originally from Miami Beach, and has grown up and lived in South Florida since 1971. In 1989, she received the Miami Herald’s Silver Knight Award for her academic excellence and commitment to community service. She graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, a Bachelor of Science in Political Science, and a minor in American History. Ippolito-Laurie obtained her Juris Doctor Degree from Nova Southeastern Sheppard Broad Law Center. |

She was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1998, and is also a member of the Federal Bar. Ippolito-Laurie was an Assistant State Attorney for the Broward County State Attorney’s Office from 1998- 2002. During those four years as a prosecutor, she jury-tried over 100 criminal cases, including more than 60 first-degree felonies.
Nikki Ippolito-Laurie is currently practicing as a criminal defense attorney with the Broward County Public Defender’s Office, headed by Howard Finkelstein. As a Public Defender, she has had several jury trials, and has represented thousands of indigent clients. She presently defends those accused of committing first degree felonies punishable by life imprisonment including cases of homicide, rape, child abuse, kidnapping and armed robbery.
Having experience as both a prosecutor and a public defender, she brings both points of view to her Criminal Law classes. |
